- Description: Chase is targeting select customers for huge 175,000-point Sapphire Reserve and 125,000-point Sapphire Preferred welcome offers. Here's how to check before applying.
- Author: James Cox

Chase is rolling out some absolutely massive targeted welcome offers, including **175,000 Ultimate Rewards points on the Chase Sapphire Reserve®** and **125,000 points on the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card**.

There is one very important catch:

**These are targeted offers. They are not currently available to everyone through the normal public application links.**

As of August 13, 2026, the publicly available offers are only **100,000 points on the Sapphire Reserve** and **75,000 points on the Sapphire Preferred**. That means checking your Chase account or Chase's pre-approved offers page before applying could potentially be worth an additional **50,000 to 75,000 Ultimate Rewards points**.

If you are considering either Sapphire card, I would definitely check for one of these targeted offers before submitting an application.

## The New Targeted Chase Offers

Reports currently include:

| Card | Targeted Offer | Current Public Offer | Difference |
| ---------------------------- | ------------------ | -------------------- | ------------------ |
| **Chase Sapphire Reserve** | **175,000 points** | 100,000 points | **+75,000 points** |
| **Chase Sapphire Preferred** | **125,000 points** | 75,000 points | **+50,000 points** |
| Chase Freedom Unlimited | $300 | $200 | +$100 |

The **175,000-point Sapphire Reserve offer requires $6,000 in spending**, according to current reports.

The reports confirming the **125,000-point Sapphire Preferred offer do not clearly specify the minimum-spending requirement attached to every targeted offer**, so check the exact terms shown in your Chase account before applying. The current public Sapphire Preferred offer requires $5,000 in purchases within three months.

## These Are YMMV Offers

This is not a normal Chase promotion where everyone can click the same link and receive the increased bonus.

These offers appear to be **targeted or pre-approved offers**, meaning YMMV — "your mileage may vary."

Reports indicate that they may appear:

- On the Chase app homepage
- Under **Explore Products → Credit Cards**
- When logged into your Chase account online
- Through Chase's pre-approved credit card offer tool

There is no universal 175K or 125K application link that guarantees the higher offer.

### Check Before Applying

This is the most important part of this deal.

**Do not automatically apply through the standard Chase Sapphire application page without first checking whether Chase has targeted you for a higher offer.**

If you qualify for the 175K Reserve offer instead of the normal 100K offer, that one extra step could produce another **75,000 Ultimate Rewards points**.

For the Preferred, the difference is **50,000 points**.

That is too large a difference to ignore.

## Chase Sapphire Reserve: 175,000 Points

The headline offer is the **175,000-point Chase Sapphire Reserve bonus** after $6,000 in qualifying spending.

The current public offer is only 100,000 points after $6,000 in purchases within the first three months. The targeted offer therefore provides **75,000 additional points with the same reported spending requirement**.

### Sapphire Reserve Key Benefits

The Sapphire Reserve currently has a **$795 annual fee**, so this isn't a card I would get solely because the welcome bonus looks attractive.

Current major benefits include:

- **$300 annual travel credit**
- **8X points on purchases through Chase Travel**
- **4X points on flights booked directly**
- **4X points on hotels booked directly**
- **3X points on dining worldwide**
- Chase Sapphire Lounge access
- Priority Pass Select airport lounge membership
- Up to a **$120 Global Entry, TSA PreCheck or NEXUS credit**
- Numerous additional travel and lifestyle credits

Chase currently allows Sapphire Reserve cardmembers to bring up to two guests into eligible Chase Sapphire Lounges and participating Priority Pass lounges.

The $795 annual fee makes the Reserve difficult to justify for travelers who won't use the benefits, but **175,000 Ultimate Rewards points substantially changes the first-year value calculation**.

If Chase targets you for 175K and you were already considering the Reserve, this is an exceptionally strong offer.

## Chase Sapphire Preferred: 125,000 Points

For many travelers, the more interesting offer may actually be the **125,000-point Chase Sapphire Preferred bonus**.

Why?

The Sapphire Preferred has only a **$95 annual fee**, making it much easier to justify keeping long term. Chase also significantly improved the card's benefits in June 2026 without increasing the annual fee.

### Sapphire Preferred Key Benefits

The updated card includes:

- **5X points on Chase Travel purchases**
- **3X points on dining**
- **3X points on gas and EV charging**
- **3X points on eligible vacation rentals**
- **3X points on select streaming services**
- **3X points on online grocery purchases**
- **2X points on other travel**
- **$100 Chase Travel hotel credit each account anniversary**
- Up to **$120 toward Global Entry, TSA PreCheck or NEXUS every four years**
- One year of Apple TV when activated by December 31, 2026
- Expanded travel protections

Chase introduced many of these improvements on June 15, 2026 while keeping the annual fee at $95.

At **125,000 Ultimate Rewards points**, the targeted offer is 50,000 points higher than today's 75,000-point public offer.

For travelers who don't want to deal with the Reserve's $795 annual fee and collection of lifestyle credits, the **125K Preferred offer could be the sweet spot**.

## Can You Get Both Sapphire Cards?

Chase's Sapphire rules have changed significantly.

Chase now allows customers to hold both the **Sapphire Preferred and Sapphire Reserve simultaneously**. Previously, Chase generally limited customers to a single Sapphire product.

However, that does **not** mean you should assume that you qualify for every welcome offer.

Chase's current Reserve terms state that the card is unavailable if you currently have that same card open and that the new-cardmember bonus may not be available if you previously held the card or previously received its new-cardmember bonus. Chase may also consider the number of cards you have recently opened and closed.

Always read the eligibility language Chase displays specifically for your application.

## What About Chase 5/24?

Don't assume that seeing a "pre-approved" offer means Chase's normal application rules disappear.

There currently isn't reliable evidence that these particular pre-approved 175K and 125K offers automatically bypass Chase's well-known 5/24 restrictions.

Doctor of Credit notes that some previous "Selected for You" offers have bypassed 5/24, but reports do not establish that these new pre-approved offers work the same way.

In other words:

**A targeted bonus is not the same thing as guaranteed approval.**

## Can You Stack the Targeted Offer With a Referral?

Current reports indicate **no**.

If Chase is giving you a 175K or 125K targeted offer, you generally can't combine it with somebody else's referral link and keep the targeted bonus.

That creates an easy decision in this case.

An extra 50,000 or 75,000 Ultimate Rewards points for the applicant will normally be much more valuable than sacrificing the elevated offer simply so someone else can collect referral points.

## 175K Reserve or 125K Preferred: Which Is Better?

This comes down to whether you can actually extract enough ongoing value from the Sapphire Reserve.

### Consider the Sapphire Reserve 175K Offer If:

You regularly use airport lounges, can easily use the $300 travel credit, value the Reserve's premium travel protections and benefits, and can justify paying a $795 annual fee.

The extra 50,000 points versus the targeted Preferred offer are attractive, but don't let those extra points convince you to pay a premium annual fee year after year if you won't use the benefits.

### Consider the Sapphire Preferred 125K Offer If:

You want a large stash of Ultimate Rewards points without committing to a $795 premium credit card.

With its $95 annual fee and newly expanded benefits, **125,000 points on the Sapphire Preferred may be the better overall deal for a large percentage of travelers**.

It offers most of what points collectors really need from the Ultimate Rewards ecosystem while being considerably easier to justify keeping.

## Bottom Line

These are some of the most attractive Chase Sapphire offers we have seen, but remember that **175K on the Sapphire Reserve and 125K on the Sapphire Preferred are targeted offers**.

The normal public offers as of August 13, 2026 are:

**Chase Sapphire Reserve:** 100,000 points after $6,000 in purchases within three months.

**Chase Sapphire Preferred:** 75,000 points after $5,000 in purchases within three months.

Before applying for either card, log into your Chase account, check the Chase app and check Chase's pre-approved offers.

Finding the targeted offer could mean **50,000 to 75,000 additional Ultimate Rewards points** for doing nothing more than checking before you apply.

And between the two deals, the **125K Sapphire Preferred offer may be especially compelling** because you're getting an enormous welcome bonus on a card that still carries just a $95 annual fee.
