Citi currently has an elevated offer for the **Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite Mastercard®** that earns **80,000 American Airlines AAdvantage miles after $3,500 in purchases within the first four months**.

There is one catch: you may not find this offer by simply navigating to the normal Citi credit-card page. Citi's standard page is currently showing only 50,000 miles, while its special inflight application page is still displaying the 80,000-mile offer.

## Current Offer

**Welcome Bonus:** 80,000 AAdvantage miles
**Minimum Spend:** $3,500
**Spend Period:** First 4 months
**Annual Fee:** $0 introductory annual fee for the first year, then $99
**Offer Type:** Special inflight/airport offer

That's 30,000 more miles than the 50,000-mile offer currently displayed on Citi's regular travel-card page.

### How to Access the 80K Offer

Citi's special application page asks for a **6- or 8-digit promotional code provided by an American Airlines flight attendant**.

There is a useful workaround reported by several reliable points-and-miles sources. Doctor of Credit reports that code **000000** has worked, while Frequent Miler reports that a random six-digit number can be used to access the offer. Both sources confirmed the 80K offer was still available in September 2026.

Because these alternate links can change without notice, **verify that your application page clearly shows 80,000 miles before submitting the application**.

## Card Benefits

The Platinum Select isn't a premium airline card, but it has a useful collection of American Airlines benefits.

Cardholders receive a **free first checked bag on domestic American Airlines itineraries** for themselves and up to four companions traveling on the same reservation. The card also provides **preferred boarding** for the cardholder and up to four companions.

Purchases earn:

- **2X AAdvantage miles** on eligible American Airlines purchases
- **2X miles** at restaurants, including takeout
- **2X miles** at gas stations
- **1X mile** on other eligible purchases

The card also provides **25% savings on eligible American Airlines inflight food and beverage purchases** and has **no foreign transaction fees**.

Spend $20,000 or more during your cardmembership year and renew the card and you can also earn a **$125 American Airlines Flight Discount**.

## Who Is Eligible?

The welcome offer is not available if you've received a new-account bonus for the **Citi / AAdvantage Platinum Select** within the previous **48 months**.

Citi also states that eligibility can be affected if another Citi card on which you received a new-account bonus within the previous 48 months was converted into a Platinum Select account.

Importantly, this restriction is tied specifically to the Citi Platinum Select account. Having earned a bonus from a different American Airlines card doesn't necessarily trigger this particular restriction.

## Why AAdvantage Miles Can Be Valuable

American Airlines miles can be used for American-operated flights as well as flights on **oneworld and other American Airlines partners**.

That can make AAdvantage miles particularly useful for travelers interested in international premium-cabin awards, where partner redemptions can sometimes provide much better value than using miles for an ordinary domestic economy ticket.

Unlike many transferable bank currencies, American Airlines miles are also relatively difficult to generate quickly outside of AAdvantage credit-card bonuses and actual AAdvantage earning activity.

## Trash Panda Take

The **80,000-mile Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select offer is substantially better than the 50,000-mile offer currently shown on Citi's normal card page**.

The $3,500 spending requirement isn't exceptionally low, but four months gives you some room to complete it. More importantly, the annual fee is waived for the first year, making the cost of acquiring the 80,000-mile bonus very low.

There have been previous 80K offers requiring considerably less spending, so this isn't the best version of the offer we've ever seen. But if you're looking to replenish AAdvantage miles now, getting **30,000 additional miles simply by using the correct application path** is an easy decision.

Just remember: **confirm that the application page shows the 80,000-mile offer before you submit.**
