Stay at a participating Marriott Bonvoy resort and Marriott adds another **3,000 points**. That means: **Regular Marriott stay of 2+ nights = 1,500 bonus points** **Participating resort stay of 2+ nights = 4,500 bonus points** The bonus is awarded **per stay rather than per night**, so a two-night qualifying stay earns the same promotional bonus as a five-night stay. That makes two-night stays the sweet spot if you're looking strictly at the promotional return. ## There Is No Limit on the Number of Bonus-P earning Stays Unlike some previous Marriott promotions, there is **no cap on the number of completed eligible paid stays** that can earn bonus points during the promotion. Complete five qualifying two-night Marriott stays, for example, and you would earn an additional **7,500 Bonvoy points**. Complete five qualifying resort stays and you'd earn **22,500 bonus points**. That uncapped structure makes the promotion considerably more useful for frequent Marriott guests, even though the bonus on an individual non-resort stay isn't particularly exciting. ## You Must Register Registration is required. Marriott opened registration on **September 9, 2026**, and members have until **November 13, 2026** to register. However, don't wait until the deadline if you have an eligible stay before then. Marriott specifically says that stays completed before registration won't qualify. You need to be registered **before checkout** for the stay to earn promotional points. You can register through Marriott Bonvoy Promotion Central or through the Marriott Bonvoy app under: **Account → Promotions and Offers** My suggestion is simple: **register now even if you don't currently have a Marriott stay planned.** It costs nothing and avoids forgetting about the promotion later. ## Which Marriott Stays Qualify? Eligible stays must be paid stays booked using a qualifying rate through Marriott or another qualifying Marriott booking channel. Marriott specifically lists channels including: Marriott websites, the Marriott Bonvoy mobile app, participating Marriott properties and Marriott Customer Engagement Centers. Most third-party online travel agency bookings don't qualify. That means a reservation through an OTA such as Expedia or Booking.com generally won't earn the promotional bonus. More importantly, those bookings typically don't earn normal Marriott Bonvoy points or elite-night credit either, making direct booking especially important when promotions like this are running. ## Award Stays Don't Qualify This is a **paid-stay promotion**. Marriott specifically excludes Award Redemption Stays, including stays booked with: Marriott Bonvoy points, Cash + Points, Free Night Awards and Point Upgrade Awards. That means using a 35K, 50K or 85K Free Night Award won't trigger the promotion, even if you pay cash for additional charges at the hotel. When comparing points versus cash for a stay during the promotional period, it's therefore reasonable to include the extra 1,500 or 4,500 promotional points in your calculation. Just don't overvalue them. If you value Marriott Bonvoy points at roughly **0.7 cents each**, 1,500 points are worth about **$10.50**, while 4,500 points are worth around **$31.50**. A $10.50 rebate shouldn't convince you to pay substantially more for a room, but an extra $31.50 in value at a resort can become more meaningful when stacked with your regular Bonvoy earnings, elite bonus and credit-card rewards. ## Marriott Associate Rates Qualify There's a particularly useful provision buried in Marriott's FAQ: **Marriott Associate Rates qualify for the promotion.** Marriott specifically confirms that eligible Marriott associates can participate and that Marriott Associate Rates are considered qualifying rates for promotional earning. That's potentially one of the best ways to leverage this promotion. Because the bonus is a fixed number of points rather than a percentage of the room rate, an inexpensive two-night Associate Rate stay receives the **same 1,500-point promotional bonus** as an expensive qualifying cash rate at the same non-resort property. At an eligible resort, the same logic applies to the full **4,500-point bonus**. A cheap Associate Rate therefore produces a substantially higher percentage return from the promotion than an expensive retail rate. ## Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy Qualify — But Only for 1,500 Points There's another detail worth knowing. Eligible paid stays at **Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy** can participate in the promotion. However, Homes & Villas stays earn only the standard **1,500 bonus points**. They don't qualify for the additional 3,000-point resort bonus. There is also a different posting schedule. Instead of posting shortly after the stay, Marriott says promotional points from eligible Homes & Villas stays can take **up to eight weeks after the promotion ends** to appear. ## Be Careful With MGM Collection Bookings MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy properties can participate, but **how you make the reservation matters**. Marriott specifically says an eligible MGM Collection stay must be booked through a **direct Marriott Bonvoy channel** to receive promotional credit. A reservation made through **MGM's booking portal does not qualify for this promotion**. That's an important distinction for anyone comparing an MGM direct offer with the Marriott rate for the same property. If earning the Marriott promotion matters, make sure the reservation is made through Marriott. Of course, the promotional bonus shouldn't override a significantly better MGM offer. Saving $75 on the room is more valuable than earning 1,500 Bonvoy points. Do the math before booking. ## Only One Room Earns the Bonus Booking multiple rooms won't multiply the promotional bonus. Marriott says members earn the promotion bonus for **only one room at one property per qualifying paid stay**, even when the member pays for additional rooms. So paying for three rooms during a family trip won't generate three 1,500-point bonuses. ## Earning Airline Miles Instead of Bonvoy Points? Watch Out Here's another restriction that's easy to miss. Marriott Bonvoy members who have their account set to earn **airline miles instead of Marriott Bonvoy points aren't eligible for this promotion**. If your account is currently set to airline miles, Marriott says you'll need to change your earning preference back to Marriott Bonvoy points. Only qualifying stays completed after the earning preference has been changed will count. It's probably worth checking your account before the promotion begins if you've ever changed your Marriott earning preference. ## What Happens If Your Stay Crosses the Promotion Dates? This part deserves a little caution because Marriott's own FAQ isn't perfectly consistent. One portion of Marriott's promotion information says you'll receive promotional credit if you register before checkout and **at least one eligible night** falls within the promotion earning period. However, Marriott's specific FAQ dealing with stays crossing the promotion dates says the stay must include **at least two eligible paid nights within the September 22 through November 22 promotion period**. Those statements don't completely agree. Because the promotion otherwise requires a minimum two-night qualifying stay, I would use the more conservative interpretation: **Make sure at least two paid nights fall between September 22 and November 22, 2026.** If you're considering a stay that straddles September 22 or November 22 specifically to earn the bonus, I'd confirm eligibility with Marriott before relying on the promotional points. ## When Will the Bonus Points Post? The two components of the promotion have different posting timelines. Marriott says the standard **1,500 bonus points** should post to your account within **10 business days after checkout** and appear with the qualifying stay. The additional **3,000-point resort bonus** can take much longer. Marriott says those points may be awarded **up to eight weeks after the promotion earning period ends**. Since the promotion ends November 22, don't be surprised if the resort bonus doesn't show up until late December or even January. I'd keep records of your qualifying resort stays until all of the expected points have posted. ## No Bonus Elite Night Credits This Time This promotion awards **bonus points only**. There are **no promotional Elite Night Credits**. That's a notable step down from Marriott's spring 2026 global promotion. The spring offer provided **2,500 bonus points per eligible paid stay plus one bonus Elite Night Credit for each different qualifying Marriott brand** visited during the promotion. This time Marriott appears to be targeting resort stays rather than elite-status qualification. For someone trying to reach Platinum, Titanium or Ambassador before the end of the year, this promotion won't provide any shortcut. ## Is the Marriott Fall 2026 Promotion Any Good? It's a mixed bag. The standard offer of **1,500 points for a minimum two-night stay isn't particularly generous**. Using a valuation of 0.7 cents per Bonvoy point, that's only around $10.50 in additional value. The **4,500-point resort offer is much more interesting**, representing roughly $31.50 at that same valuation. The uncapped earning is another positive. There's nothing preventing someone with multiple legitimate Marriott stays during the two-month promotional period from earning the bonus repeatedly. The negatives are pretty obvious: You need at least two nights, award stays don't qualify, there are no bonus Elite Night Credits and the regular-hotel bonus is relatively small. In other words, **this isn't a promotion worth mattress running for in most cases.** ## Trash Panda Take This is an easy promotion to summarize: **Absolutely register. Don't change your travel plans because of it.** There's no downside to registration, and anyone already planning paid Marriott stays between September 22 and November 22 should collect the extra points. The promotion becomes much more attractive for resort stays, where the bonus jumps from **1,500 to 4,500 points**. I also like that Marriott hasn't capped the number of qualifying stays. But 1,500 Bonvoy points aren't enough to justify choosing Marriott over a substantially cheaper hotel or abandoning a better promotion from Hyatt, Hilton or IHG. The most interesting angle may actually be **qualifying Marriott Associate Rates**. A cheap two-night Associate Rate earns the same fixed promotional bonus as a much more expensive qualifying room rate, making the effective rebate much more attractive. And if you're staying at an MGM Collection property, pay particular attention to the booking channel. **Booking through MGM won't qualify; booking an eligible rate through Marriott can.** Bottom line: **register now, book Marriott when Marriott already makes sense, and consider the 1,500 to 4,500 bonus points gravy.** For travel you were already going to take, free Bonvoy points are still free Bonvoy points.
