Rakuten Credit Card Offers: Up to $375 Cash Back or 37,500 Bilt Points — But YMMV

Rakuten is offering substantial bonuses for applying for select credit cards, including as much as $375 cash back or 37,500 Bilt Points. But we found different offers in incognito mode, making these deals very YMMV.

Rakuten Credit Card Offers – Up to $375 or 37,500 Bilt Points

Rakuten is best known as a shopping portal, but there is another way to squeeze substantial value out of it: applying for select credit cards through Rakuten.

These aren't replacements for the welcome bonuses offered by the banks. The Rakuten reward is generally on top of the credit card's normal signup bonus, which means the right offer can add hundreds of dollars — or tens of thousands of Bilt Points — to an application you were already considering.

Right now, the headline offer for the Bank of America Travel Rewards credit card is potentially worth as much as $375 in Rakuten Cash Back or 37,500 Bilt Points.

But there is a big catch:

These Rakuten Credit Card Offers Are YMMV

Do not assume that the offer someone else sees is the offer you will receive.

When I checked the Bank of America Travel Rewards offer through Rakuten in an incognito browser window on September 9, 2026, I was shown:

$300 Cash Back

At the same time, Rakuten's publicly indexed Travel Rewards and banking pages were displaying:

$375 Cash Back

Rakuten's $375 page also shows that the previous regular rate had been $125.

That's pretty compelling evidence that Rakuten can serve different credit-card application bonuses depending on the account, session, promotion or other targeting criteria.

So while $375 / 37,500 Bilt Points is available to at least some users, you may see $300, $250 or another amount when you actually visit Rakuten.

YMMV — Your Mileage May Vary.

And with these offers, it really does.

Current Rakuten Credit Card Offers

Here is what Rakuten is currently advertising or what we have observed as of September 9, 2026:

Credit CardRakuten Cash BackBilt Equivalent at Current Rate
Bank of America Travel Rewards$300-$375 YMMV30,000-37,500 Bilt Points
Bank of America Customized Cash Rewards$15015,000 Bilt Points
Bank of America Unlimited Cash Rewards$15015,000 Bilt Points
Chase Ink Business Cash$10010,000 Bilt Points
Chase Ink Business Unlimited$10010,000 Bilt Points
Citi Strata Premier$10010,000 Bilt Points
Rakuten American Express Card$10010,000 Bilt Points
Chase Freedom Unlimited$252,500 Bilt Points

Rakuten's current banking page is showing $150 on both Bank of America Customized Cash Rewards and Unlimited Cash Rewards, $100 on the two Chase Ink cards and $25 on Freedom Unlimited. That's already different from some of the higher payouts reported only a few days earlier.

Citi Strata Premier is also currently appearing with a $100 Rakuten payout.

That rapid movement is another reason not to rely on an offer table without checking Rakuten immediately before applying.

Bank of America Travel Rewards Is the Standout

The most interesting offer in the group is Bank of America Travel Rewards.

The card currently offers 25,000 bonus points after at least $1,000 in purchases within the first 90 days, worth a $250 statement credit toward eligible travel purchases through the card's redemption structure. Rakuten's card page confirms that offer alongside its elevated portal payout.

If you receive the $375 Rakuten version:

$375 Rakuten reward + $250 Bank of America bonus = $625 in potential value

If you receive the $300 version I saw in incognito:

$300 Rakuten reward + $250 Bank of America bonus = $550 in potential value

Either way, that's a very healthy acquisition bonus for a card with no annual fee.

The $375 version is obviously preferable, but I wouldn't automatically dismiss $300 if this were already a card I wanted.

Taking Bilt Points Instead of Cash Can Make This Much More Interesting

Rakuten members can choose to have eligible Rakuten Cash Back paid as Bilt Points after linking their Rakuten and Bilt accounts.

The current conversion is straightforward:

1 Rakuten cent = 1 Bilt Point

Which is the same as:

$1 Rakuten Cash Back = 100 Bilt Points

Bilt's current Rakuten promotion specifically states that all Bilt members receive 1,000 Bilt Points for every $10 in Rakuten Cash Back.

That makes the math easy:

Rakuten Cash BackBilt Points
$252,500
$10010,000
$15015,000
$22522,500
$30030,000
$37537,500

So if your Rakuten account shows the $375 Travel Rewards offer and you're earning through Bilt, that becomes:

37,500 Bilt Points

If you see the $300 version:

30,000 Bilt Points

That's where this becomes especially interesting for travelers.

Why I'd Consider Bilt Points Over $375 Cash

Cash is easy to value.

$375 is worth $375.

Bilt Points, however, can be transferred to a number of airline and hotel loyalty programs. Depending on how you redeem them, 37,500 transferable points could potentially produce substantially more than $375 worth of travel.

That doesn't mean everyone should automatically take Bilt Points.

If you're going to redeem them poorly, cash is cash.

But if you regularly use transferable points for premium airfare or expensive hotel stays, 37,500 Bilt Points could be the better side of the deal.

And that's before considering the 25,000 Bank of America Travel Rewards points earned from the card's own welcome offer.

Don't Confuse the Rakuten Conversion With Credit Card Earning Rates

There has been some confusion surrounding the Rakuten/Bilt partnership because Bilt has several different earning and redemption structures.

For this Rakuten promotion, however, the important number is simple:

$10 Rakuten Cash Back = 1,000 Bilt Points.

The amount you're earning from Rakuten isn't determined by how much your Bilt credit card earns on everyday spending.

Rakuten first tracks the eligible Cash Back. If you've elected to receive Bilt Points, your confirmed Rakuten rewards are then paid as Bilt Points under the applicable Rakuten/Bilt conversion. Rakuten says purchases, bonuses and other confirmed rewards are included in the quarterly payment process.

Why Are Some People Seeing $375 and Others $300?

Rakuten doesn't appear to publish a detailed explanation of exactly how it targets every credit-card promotion.

But we can see the result.

The same day that a fresh incognito session displayed $300, Rakuten's indexed pages continued to advertise $375.

And the offers have moved significantly in only a few days.

The original deal report published September 5 showed, among other offers:

  • $375 for Bank of America Travel Rewards
  • $225 for Bank of America Unlimited Cash Rewards
  • $225 for Bank of America Customized Cash Rewards
  • $100 for Chase Freedom Unlimited

Just four days later, Rakuten's current banking page was displaying $150 for the two Bank of America cash-back cards and only $25 for Freedom Unlimited.

That's a pretty dramatic illustration of how fluid these offers are.

Try Rakuten Several Ways Before Applying

If you're interested in one of these cards, don't immediately apply from the first page you see.

I would check:

  • Rakuten while logged into your account
  • Rakuten while logged out
  • An incognito/private browser window
  • The Rakuten mobile app
  • Your Rakuten/Bilt-linked account, if applicable
  • Any targeted Rakuten email or promotional link you've received

You could potentially uncover a better offer.

Just remember that the offer that matters is the one attached to the shopping trip and application you actually use.

Take Screenshots Before You Apply

This is particularly important with a $300-$375 credit-card rebate.

Before clicking through to submit an application, take screenshots showing:

  • The Rakuten offer amount
  • Credit card name
  • Date
  • Any Rakuten terms displayed
  • Your activated Rakuten shopping trip
  • The credit card issuer's welcome offer
  • Spending requirement
  • Landing-page offer

I'd also save any confirmation email or Rakuten shopping-trip number.

If Rakuten tracks your application incorrectly, documentation showing a $375 offer is a lot better than saying, "I know that's what the website showed me."

Compare Rakuten Against Referral Offers

An extra Rakuten payment doesn't automatically mean Rakuten is the best place to apply.

This is especially important with Chase.

For example, Rakuten is currently paying $100 for the Chase Ink Business Cash and Ink Business Unlimited.

That's certainly better than applying directly and receiving nothing extra.

But if you have a spouse, friend or household member who can generate a lucrative Chase referral bonus — while you still receive the same applicant welcome offer — the referral route could produce more total household value.

Always compare:

Rakuten payout + applicant welcome offer

against:

Referral bonus + applicant welcome offer

and also check:

Public offers
In-branch offers
Targeted offers
Preapproved offers

The best application link is the one producing the most total value while preserving the welcome offer you actually want.

Rakuten Doesn't Bypass Bank Approval Rules

Applying through Rakuten doesn't change the bank's underwriting requirements.

You're still subject to the issuer's normal rules, including things such as:

  • Chase 5/24
  • Previous welcome-bonus restrictions
  • Bank-specific application limits
  • Eligibility rules
  • Creditworthiness
  • Business-card requirements where applicable

Think of Rakuten as an additional affiliate reward layered onto the application.

It isn't a shortcut around the bank's rules.

What About Membership Rewards?

Eligible Rakuten members can also choose American Express Membership Rewards as their payment method. Rakuten lists Membership Rewards alongside PayPal, Bilt Points and checks as an available payout method for qualifying users.

There is an important wrinkle with credit-card offers, though.

Some Rakuten credit-card promotions may not appear the same way — or may not appear at all — depending on your selected Rakuten payment preference. The original deal report specifically notes that members set to Membership Rewards may not see all available card-application promotions.

So if a credit-card offer is missing, it's worth checking how the offer looks under Cash Back or Bilt before assuming it has disappeared.

Again:

Don't change anything and immediately apply without confirming the offer shown on your own Rakuten account.

Trash Panda Take

Rakuten has quietly become another place worth checking before every credit-card application.

The standout right now is Bank of America Travel Rewards.

At the best observed rate:

$375 Rakuten Cash Back

or

37,500 Bilt Points

plus the card's own:

25,000-point / $250 welcome offer

creates up to roughly $625 of straightforward combined value if you take cash, with the possibility of getting even more travel value if you choose Bilt Points and redeem them well.

But I'd put a giant YMMV next to the $375 headline.

I checked the same deal through an incognito browser and got $300, while Rakuten's other public-facing pages were simultaneously advertising $375.

That's not a rounding error.

It's a $75 difference — or 7,500 Bilt Points.

So before you apply:

Check the offer.
Check it again.
Compare Rakuten against referrals.
Take screenshots.
Then apply.

The raccoon rule applies here:

If somebody is leaving an extra pile of points sitting next to the trash can, check every side of the trash can before grabbing it.
