Capital One Venture Card Adds a New $100 Annual Travel Credit
Capital One appears to be making its popular Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card considerably more valuable. Some existing cardholders have received notices informing them that their Venture card now includes a new $100 annual stays credit.
Despite being described casually as a travel credit, the new benefit is more limited: It can be used toward eligible hotel and vacation rental reservations booked through Capital One Travel.
The credit could effectively offset the Venture card’s entire $95 annual fee for travelers who already book at least one hotel stay through the Capital One portal each year.
How the New $100 Venture Credit Works
According to notifications sent to some Venture cardholders, the new benefit includes:
- A $100 credit each cardholder year
- Valid for hotels and vacation rentals
- Reservations must be made through Capital One Travel
- No enrollment is required
- The credit renews on the cardholder’s account anniversary
- The available credit can be viewed and applied during checkout
Capital One reportedly told cardholders that the credit would become available within 72 hours of receiving the notification.
One important distinction is that this does not appear to be a traditional statement credit that automatically reimburses an eligible charge. Instead, cardholders should see the credit as a payment option when completing an eligible reservation through Capital One Travel.
Is the Credit Available to Every Venture Cardholder?
That is not yet completely clear.
As of August 1, 2026, Capital One has not added the $100 annual stays credit to the publicly available Venture card benefits page. The benefit is currently being reported based on emails and account notifications received by selected existing cardholders.
This could mean that Capital One is:
- Gradually rolling out the benefit to all Venture cardholders;
- Testing the benefit with selected accounts; or
- Preparing for a broader announcement.
Current cardholders should log in to their Capital One account, review recent emails and check the Capital One Travel checkout page before assuming that the credit is available.
The Credit Is Limited to Capital One Travel
The biggest limitation is that eligible hotel and vacation rental reservations must be booked through Capital One Travel.
Direct hotel bookings, Airbnb reservations, Vrbo bookings made outside the portal and reservations through other online travel agencies would not appear to qualify.
Booking through a credit card travel portal can also involve trade-offs. Travelers staying at major hotel chains may not receive hotel points, elite-night credits or elite-status benefits when booking through a third party. Cancellation and reservation changes may also need to be handled through Capital One Travel rather than directly with the hotel.
Before applying the credit, compare the Capital One Travel price with:
- The hotel’s direct-booking rate
- Member or loyalty-program rates
- AAA, senior or corporate rates
- Other travel booking websites
- Any available hotel promotions
A $100 credit is valuable, but not when the portal price is substantially higher or the booking causes you to lose more valuable hotel benefits.
Capital One Travel offers a price-match guarantee on eligible flights, hotels and rental cars, which may help when the portal price does not match a publicly available rate elsewhere.
Does the Venture Card Still Earn Miles on the Booking?
The Venture card currently earns 5 miles per dollar on hotels, vacation rentals and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel. It earns an unlimited 2 miles per dollar on most other purchases.
Capital One has not yet published complete public terms explaining whether cardholders will earn miles on the portion of a reservation covered by the new credit. Generally, cardholders should expect to earn rewards only on the amount actually charged to the card, but we will need the official benefit terms to confirm exactly how Capital One will handle these bookings.
Don’t Confuse It With the Lifestyle Collection Credit
The new $100 annual stays credit is separate from the existing Lifestyle Collection experience credit.
Venture cardholders who reserve an eligible Lifestyle Collection property through Capital One Travel can receive a $50 experience credit during each qualifying stay. Depending on the property, that credit may be available for dining, drinks, room service or other on-property amenities. Lifestyle Collection stays may also include benefits such as early check-in, late checkout and room upgrades when available.
The new $100 credit, by comparison, is intended to reduce the cost of the hotel or vacation rental reservation itself.
It may eventually be possible to use the annual stays credit to help pay for an eligible Lifestyle Collection reservation and then receive the separate $50 experience credit during the stay. However, cardholders should wait for Capital One’s official terms before assuming the two benefits will always stack.
The Venture Card’s Other Major Benefits
The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card has a $95 annual fee and currently offers:
- Unlimited 2 miles per dollar on everyday purchases
- 5 miles per dollar on eligible Capital One Travel bookings
- Access to Capital One airline and hotel transfer partners
- Up to a $120 Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application credit
- No foreign transaction fees
- Hertz Five Star status for eligible cardholders
- Lifestyle Collection hotel and vacation rental benefits
New cardholders can currently earn 75,000 bonus miles after spending $4,000 on purchases within the first three months of opening the account. Capital One states that applicants may not qualify for the bonus if they received a new-card bonus on either the Venture or Venture X card during the previous 48 months.
Offers and eligibility rules are subject to change, so applicants should verify the terms displayed during the application process.
Does the $100 Credit Offset the Annual Fee?
On paper, yes.
The Venture card charges a $95 annual fee, while the new benefit provides up to $100 toward eligible Capital One Travel hotel and vacation rental bookings. A cardholder who uses the entire credit at close to face value would receive enough value to offset the annual fee before considering the card’s miles, transfer partners and other benefits.
However, the credit should not automatically be valued at $100 by every traveler. Its actual value depends on whether you:
- Normally book hotels through Capital One Travel;
- Can find competitively priced reservations;
- Are willing to give up direct-booking hotel benefits; and
- Remember to use the credit before the cardholder year ends.
Someone who would otherwise book directly with a hotel might reasonably discount the credit’s value. For travelers who already use Capital One Travel, it could be worth nearly the full $100.
Bottom Line
The new $100 annual stays credit could transform the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card into one of the easiest $95 travel cards to justify.
Using the benefit once per year on a competitively priced hotel or vacation rental could completely offset the card’s annual fee. Combined with unlimited 2X earning, transferable miles and the existing Capital One Travel benefits, the credit makes the Venture card significantly more competitive.
For now, however, this appears to be an early or gradual rollout rather than a fully announced benefit. Existing cardholders should check their email and Capital One account to confirm eligibility, while prospective applicants should wait for the credit to appear in the card’s official benefits and application terms before factoring it into their decision.
