Amex Marriott Bonvoy Business New Offer: 100K Points + 50K Free Night Award

American Express has launched a new limited-time welcome offer on the Marriott Bonvoy Business® American Express® Card, giving eligible new cardmembers a combination of Marriott Bonvoy points and a Free Night Award.

The new offer is:

Earn 100,000 Marriott Bonvoy bonus points plus one Free Night Award worth up to 50,000 points after spending $8,000 on purchases within the first six months of Card Membership.

The offer is scheduled to end November 4, 2026.

The Amex Marriott Bonvoy Business carries a $125 annual fee.

New Amex Marriott Bonvoy Business Offer at a Glance

On paper, the bonus provides up to 150,000 points of Marriott redemption capacity, although it is important to understand that the 50,000-point Free Night Award is not the same thing as receiving another 50,000 Marriott points.

The certificate must be used for a single qualifying night, and any unused portion of the certificate is lost.

Just as importantly, Marriott Free Night Awards expire. The certificate is generally valid for one year from the date it is issued, and Marriott states that Free Night Awards cannot be extended beyond their expiration date or converted back into Marriott Bonvoy points.

That makes the 50K certificate considerably less flexible than receiving an additional 50,000 points.

The 50K Free Night Award Is More Useful Than It Used to Be

One of the best recent changes to Marriott Bonvoy is an increase in how many points members can add to a Free Night Award.

Marriott now allows members to add up to 25,000 points to a Free Night Award, increased from the previous 15,000-point limit.

That means the 50,000-point certificate included with this welcome offer could potentially be used for:

• A hotel costing up to 50,000 points with no additional points required.
• A 60,000-point hotel by adding 10,000 Marriott points.
• A 70,000-point hotel by adding 20,000 Marriott points.
• A hotel costing as much as 75,000 points by adding the maximum 25,000 points.

That considerably expands the selection of properties where the certificate may be useful.

Remember, however, that Free Night Awards aren't points.

If you redeem the 50K certificate for a hotel costing 42,000 points, you don't get the remaining 8,000 points back. And if you don't use the certificate before its expiration date, you lose the entire certificate.

That's one reason I don't personally value a 50K Free Night Award at the same level as 50,000 unrestricted Marriott Bonvoy points.

Certain properties may also charge resort or other mandatory fees.

Ongoing Amex Marriott Bonvoy Business Benefits

The welcome offer gets most of the attention, but the Amex Marriott Bonvoy Business has several benefits that can make the $125 annual fee relatively easy to justify for regular Marriott guests.

Annual 35K Free Night Award

Cardholders receive a Free Night Award worth up to 35,000 Marriott Bonvoy points each year after their Card renewal month.

With Marriott's 25,000-point top-off limit, that certificate can potentially be used toward a hotel costing as much as 60,000 points.

For many Marriott travelers, getting more than $125 of value from that certificate alone shouldn't be particularly difficult.

However, just like the welcome-offer certificate, the annual Free Night Award expires one year after issuance. It isn't something you can accumulate indefinitely while waiting for the perfect redemption.

15 Elite Night Credits

The card provides 15 Elite Night Credits each calendar year toward Marriott Bonvoy elite status.

Even better, Marriott allows eligible members to combine the Elite Night Credits from one personal Marriott card and one business Marriott card.

That can be useful for someone who already carries a Marriott consumer card and is working toward Platinum, Titanium or Ambassador Elite status.

Complimentary Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite Status

Cardmembers receive automatic Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite Status.

Gold isn't the most exciting Marriott elite tier, but it provides benefits including bonus points on eligible hotel spending and potential room upgrades when available.

7% Marriott Business Card Rate Discount

Cardholders can receive a total discount of 7% off Marriott's Standard Flexible Room Rate on eligible reservations when booking the special Amex Business Card Rate directly through Marriott.

As always, compare rates before assuming that a cardholder rate is the cheapest option available.

Another Free Night After $60,000 of Spending

Cardmembers who spend $60,000 during a calendar year can earn an additional Free Night Award worth up to 35,000 points.

That sounds nice, but I wouldn't recommend putting $60,000 on this card solely to earn the additional certificate. There are generally much more valuable opportunities for that amount of credit-card spending.

And, once again, that Free Night Award comes with an expiration date.

Earning Marriott Bonvoy Points

The card earns:

• 6X Marriott Bonvoy points on eligible purchases at hotels participating in Marriott Bonvoy.
• 4X points at restaurants worldwide.
• 4X points at U.S. gas stations.
• 4X points on wireless telephone services purchased directly from U.S. providers.
• 4X points on eligible U.S. shipping purchases.
• 2X points on other eligible purchases.

There are also no foreign transaction fees.

For most points-and-miles enthusiasts, this probably isn't the card I'd use for everyday non-bonus spending. Its real value comes from the Marriott benefits, Elite Night Credits, annual certificate and welcome bonus.

Important: Marriott Credit Card Eligibility Rules Are Complicated

Before applying, pay close attention to the eligibility language.

American Express states that you may not be eligible for the welcome offer if you've had the Amex Marriott Bonvoy Business or its former Starwood Preferred Guest business-card versions.

There are also restrictions involving Chase Marriott cards.

According to the current terms, the welcome offer isn't available if you:

• Have or had certain legacy Chase Marriott business cards within the previous 30 days.
• Acquired a Chase Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful, Boundless or Bold card within the previous 90 days.
• Received a new-card bonus on the Bountiful, Boundless or Bold within the previous 24 months.

This is an area where you absolutely want to check your own Marriott credit-card history before applying.

American Express also uses its familiar eligibility language allowing it to consider your previous Amex card history and other factors. If you're ineligible for the welcome offer, Amex will generally notify you before processing the application, giving you the opportunity to withdraw.

Is 100K Points + a 50K Free Night a Great Offer?

It's a good offer, but it isn't the best offer we've ever seen on this card.

The Amex Marriott Bonvoy Business has periodically offered substantially larger bonuses, including offers involving multiple 50K Free Night Awards.

We've also seen offers for substantially more Marriott Bonvoy points.

The advantage of the new offer is its combination of flexibility and value.

You get 100,000 actual Marriott points, which can be divided across multiple stays however you want, plus a certificate that can potentially cover a fairly expensive Marriott night.

I prefer that structure to an offer consisting entirely of Free Night Awards because certificates are significantly less flexible than points.

There are three major limitations with a Free Night Award:

1. It expires, generally one year after issuance.
2. You lose any unused value if the hotel costs fewer points than the certificate's maximum value.
3. It must be used for a single qualifying night rather than divided between multiple stays.

Those restrictions are important when comparing this offer against a Marriott bonus consisting entirely of points.

The $8,000 spending requirement is also significant.

Spread evenly over six months, that's roughly $1,333 per month, which should be manageable for many small businesses but is still enough spending that you should consider what other welcome bonuses you might be giving up to earn this one.

Trash Panda Take

This is an interesting middle ground between Marriott's pure points bonuses and the multiple-Free-Night offers we've seen in the past.

100,000 points plus a 50K certificate can provide excellent value, particularly if you can use the certificate for a hotel close to or above its 50K face value.

The ability to add up to 25,000 Marriott points makes that certificate particularly useful. Instead of being limited to properties costing 50K or less, you can now pair it with your Marriott points and potentially book something costing as much as 75K.

But I wouldn't call this the equivalent of a 150,000-point bonus.

The 100,000 points are flexible Marriott Bonvoy points. The 50K certificate is a use-it-or-lose-it award that expires after one year, can't be broken into smaller redemptions and doesn't return any unused value.

That distinction matters.

This also isn't a "drop everything and apply" best-ever offer.

If you're eligible, have a real use for Marriott points and certificates, and can comfortably meet the $8,000 spending requirement without giving up a better bonus elsewhere, it's a solid offer.

If you're in no hurry, history tells us Marriott and American Express are perfectly capable of producing richer offers.

Bottom Line

The Marriott Bonvoy Business® American Express® Card is currently offering:

100,000 Marriott Bonvoy points + one Free Night Award worth up to 50,000 points after $8,000 in purchases during the first six months.

The card has a $125 annual fee, and the limited-time offer ends November 4, 2026.

The Free Night Award can potentially be topped off with up to 25,000 Marriott points for a redemption costing as much as 75,000 points, but remember that the certificate expires one year after issuance.

Combined with the annual 35K Free Night Award, 15 Elite Night Credits, Gold Elite status and Marriott business-rate discount, this remains one of the more interesting hotel cards for small-business owners who regularly stay with Marriott.
